Giant Gecko

Primarily produced in the Chinese provinces of Guangdong, Guangxi, Yunnan.

Flat shape, head and body is about 9~18cm long, 1/3 portion is head; back and front side are 6~11cm wide, tail is 6~10cm long. Head has a triangular shape, the two eyes are sunken and form cavities, the mouth has thin teeth inside and lacks abnormal large teeth. Mouth is semi-spherical; rostral does not cut the nostrils, connected with nasal scales; each side has one upper nasal scale, 12~14 pairs of upper rostrals, 21 lower rostrals. Oval front and back sides, with thin front side. Back side is grayish-black or silver-gray, with yellowish-white or grayish-green scattered spots or dense to obvious spotty lines; spine and ribs are raised. Four feet all have five toes; rudimentary web is between the toes, with a sucking disc at the bottom. Tail is thin and firm, with slightly obvious bone joints, featuring the same color as the back, and 6~7 obvious silvery-gray ring strips. Whole body is covered with dense round or polygonal and slightly lustrous thin scales. Fishy odor; slightly salty taste.
