Foxtail Millet Sprout

Produced in the areas all around China.

Slightly flat long oval shape, apex is slightly pointy, base is blunt and round. 6~9mm long, about 3mm wide. Outer seed coat is firm, externally yellow, with thin hairs, and 5 veins. Base has 2 white linear lodicules, about 2mm long, pale yellow, membranous, lodicules of one side extend out, pale yellow in color and curved thin initial rootlet, one side has sprout. External chamber is membranous, smooth, yellowish-white, has seed inside, firm texture, fractured surface is white, and powdery. faint odor, slightly sweet taste.

Superior medicinal material is large, full, with entire germ, pale yellow.

Sweet; warm.

Disperses food, resolves stagnation, promotes the spleen, open appetite. Apply to dyspepsia and stagnation, feeling of fullness and diarrhea, spleen deficiency and anorexia, beriberi and general edema.
