Production RegionsPrimarily produced in the Chinese area of Huazhou and Lianjiang of Guangdong.
Macroscopic FeaturesFolded into seven corners or spread out in a five-pointed star, single pieces have a willow leaf-shape. Intact pieces have a diameter of 15~28cm after being flattened, and a thickness of 0.2~0.5cm. Outer surface is yellowish-green to yellowish-brown, with wrinkles and small oil spots; inner surface is yellowish-white or pale yellowish-brown, with veins. Brittle texture, easily broken. Aromatic odor, bitter and slightly acrid taste.
Quality RequirementsSuperior medicinal material is large, clean, white, firm, powdery.

FunctionsDisperses cold, dries dampness, promotes qi, eliminates phlegm. Apply to cough due to wind-cold, itching throat with phlegm, dyspepsia and chronic alcoholism, vomiting, nausea, painful abdominal mass.
OriginThe dried outer layer of peel from the immature or nearly ripe fruit of Citrus grandis ‘Tomentosa’(Rutaceae). First one is also called ‘mao ju hong’, the second one is also called ‘guang qi zhua’’guang wu zhua’.
