Macroscopic FeaturesSpike-shaped flower, often slightly flat, fat and thick, with a shape similar to a cock’s comb. 8~25cm long, 5~20cm wide, largest diameter is about 40cm. upper edge is wide, rippled, and has dense linear scales; lower end is gradually narrow, often has remnants of flat stem. Externally red, purple-red or yellowish-white; numerous small flowers grow densely on the center and lower portions, the remaining bracts and perianth of each flower appear membranous. The fruit's covering is cracked, seed is flat round kidney-shaped, black, lustrous. Light in weight, pliable texture. faint odor, tasteless.
