Primarily produced in the Chinese provinces of Zhejiang, Jiangsu.
Macroscopic Features
Rhizomes in an irregular cluster, often with bulbous branches, uneven length and size, diameter 1~4cm. Externally brown to grayish-brown, with dense round joints and irregular longitudinal wrinkles, and numerous rootlets or scars of rootlets; apex has remnants of stem. Hard texture, not easily broken, cut surface is pale yellowish-white to yellowish-brown, with radial striations and pith at the center. faint odor, slightly astringent taste.
