Lotus Plumule

Primarily produced in the Chinese provinces of Hunan, Hubei, Fujian, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Jiangxi.

Slightly thin rod-like, 1~1.4cm long, about 0.2cm diameter. Young leaves are green, one long leaf and one short leaf, rolled into an arrow-like shape, apex is folded downward, and tiny germ is between the 2 young leaves. Radicle is cylindrical, about 3mm long, yellowish-white. Brittle texture, easily fractured, fractured surface has numerous small holes. faint odor; bitter taste.

Superior medicinal material large and green, unboiled.

Bitter; cold

Clears heart, calms spirit, connects heart and kidney, astringes essence, stops bleeding. Apply to heat attacking pericardium, coma and delirium, disharmony heart and kidney, insomnia and emissions, hematemesis due to blood heat.
