Beautiful Sweetgum Fruit

Primarily produced in the Chinese provinces of Jiangsu, Anhui, Zhejiang, Fujian.

Aggregate fruit, made up of many small capsules clustered together, spherical shaped, 2~3cm diameter. Base has main stem. Externally grayish-brown or brown, with numerous pointed spikes and beak-like spikes, 0.5~1mm long, often broken, small capsule apex is cracked with honeycomb-like small holes. Light, hard texture, not easily broken; faint odor, tasteless.

Superior medicinal material is large, yellow, without fruit stem.

Bitter, neutral

Dispels wind, boosts blood, promotes urination, frees channels. Apply to joint impediment, numbing and convulsion, edema and swelling fullness, location deficiency, amenorrhea.
