Macroscopic FeaturesDried whole herb, stem is purple-brown, slightly with ridges and wrinkles, without hairs, slightly lustrous. Leaf stem is long, flat and indented in the center, two edges are membranous, often curved, without hairs. Leaf is wrinkled, slightly broken, upper surface is purple-red, few are brownish-green, smooth, lower surface is purple-red, without hairs, leaf vein is slightly raised; paper-like texture, easily broken. Sometimes has obvious flower stem, with numerous small flowers or flat spherical brown capsules. faint odor, slightly bitter taste.
