Macroscopic FeaturesThin and long cylindrical, long fusiform or irregular strips, 6~20cm long, 0.5~2cm diameter. Externally yellowish-white or pale brown, smooth or with longitudinal grooves and rootlet scars, sometimes with reddish-brown spots. Hard and brittle texture, fractured surface is horn-like, xylem is yellowish-white, cortex is relatively thin, and easily peeled off from xylem, off-white xylem. faint odor, tasteless.
Quality RequirementsSuperior medicinal material is even, hard and brittle, heavy, yellowish-white.
PropertiesSweet, slightly bitter, slightly cold.
