Macroscopic FeaturesCremocarp, oval-shaped, often cracked into mericarps. Externally pale greenish-brown or brownish-yellow, apex has remnants of style base, base is blunt round, back side is raised, with 4 narrow wing-like ridges that each have one row of yellowish-white hooked burrs, the base of the second ridge has a faint main ridge, with scattered short soft hairs, jointed side is smooth, with 3 veins and soft hairs. Kernel is off-white, oily. Light weight; distinctively aromatic odor when crushed by hands, slightly acrid, bitter taste.
