Macroscopic FeaturesStem is cylindrical, externally yellowish-brown or yellowish-green, some is purple, with obvious joints and longitudinal ridges; brittle texture, fractured surface has white pith or hollow center. Opposing leaves, with stems, leaves often wrinkled, broken, greenish-brown, intact leaves has 3 lobes or no lobes, the middle lobe is relatively large, lanceolate or long round lanceolate after flattened, base is narrow, edges have saw-teeth; uncracked is oval-round, oval-lanceolate or elliptical shape after flattened. Aromatic odor, slightly bitter taste.
