Caper Euphorbia Seed

Primarily produced in the chines provinces of Zhejiang, Henan, Hebei, Jilin, Sichuan.

Oval or invert oval shape, about 5mm long, about 4mm diameter. Externally grayish-brown, with irregular reticular lines, grayish-black reticular indented, forming small spots. One side has longitudinal groove-like hilum, apex has raised chalaza, lower portion has a linear hilum, base has off-white raised carbuncles or fallen scars. Thin and brittle seed coat, white or yellowish-white kernel, oily. faint odor, acrid taste.

Superior medicinal material has full seed, white kernel, oily.

Acrid, warm, toxic.

Drains water, eliminates swelling, breaks blood, resolves mass. Apply to edema, fluid retention, dyspepsia and feeling of fullness, unsmooth urine and stool, amenorrhea due to stagnation of blood, externally applied to treat verruca warts, refractory tinea.
