Asiatic Moonseed Rhizome

Primarily produced in Chinese provinces of Shandong, Shanxi, Hebei.

Rhizome is cylindrical, curved, with branches, up to 50cm long, 0.3~0.8cm diameter. Externally yellowish-brown to dark brown, with many curved thin roots, outer skin easily flakes off. Pliable texture difficult to break, uneven fractured surface, fibrous; yellow woody portion, radial arrangement and pith in the center. faint odor; taste bitter.

Superior medicinal material is thick and strong; bitter taste.

Bitter; cold, slightly toxic.

Clears heat, resolves toxin, dispels swollen, promotes throat. Apply to pent-up heat toxin, swelling pain of throat, swollen and pain of tooth and gums.
