Macroscopic FeaturesAggregate fruit made up of many small achenes clustered together, long spherical shape, 1~2cm long, 0.5~0.8cm diameter. Yellowish-brown, brownish-red to dark purple (relatively rarely, the color is milky-white when mature), with short fruit stem. Small achene is oval-round, slightly flat, about 2mm long, 1mm wide, exterior has 4 fleshy perianths. faint odor, slightly sour and sweet taste.
Quality RequirementsSuperior medicinal material is large, thick, purplish-red, with a sugary nature.
