Primarily produced in the Chinese provinces of Anhui, Shaanxi, Hunan, Henan.
Macroscopic Features
Flat oval or flat elliptical shape. 0.8~1.3cm long, 6~9mm wide, about 7mm thick. Externally pale yellowish-white or pale yellow; smooth and slightly lustrous; presents with brownish speckles; one white raised half-moon-shaped carbuncle that bulges out on one side. 7~10mm long. Break to observe concave hilum with micropyle on the end connecting carbuncle and raphe on the other end. Hard texture, thin and brittle seed coat. 2 cotyledons are fat and thick, yellowish-white. faint odor. Taste bland, with a bean-like taste when chewed.
