Snake Slough

Produced in most areas of China.

Cylindrical, often pressed flat and wrinkled, intact specimens are similar to a snake, up to more than 1m long. Back is silver-gray or pale grayish-brown, lustrous, scale marking is diamond or oval shape, and appear white where they come together, slightly wrinkled or indented; abdomen is milky-white or slightly yellow, scale marking is rectangular shape, in tile-like arrangement. Light in weight, slightly pliable texture, smooth and flexible feeling when twisted by hands, produces a rustling sound when slightly rubbed. Slightly fishy odor, tasteless or slightly salty taste.

Superior medicinal material is intact.

Dispels wind, calms fright, resolves toxin, relieves eye screen. Apply to infantile convulsion, convulsive spasm, eye screen, throat impediment, swelling boil, skin itching.
