Production Regions
Primarily produced in India, Indonesia, Malaysia.
Macroscopic Features
Cylindrical sections in uneven length, sometimes slightly curved, often 1m long, 10~30cm diameter. Externally grayish-yellow or yellowish-brown, smooth and fine. Sometimes has scar joints or longitudinal cracks, cross-section surface is brownish-yellow, oily; brown annual ring is obvious or indistinct, longitudinally-split grains are orderly and straight. Firm texture, hard to break. Clear aromatic odor, produces a potent aroma when burned; initially tasteless, slightly spicy and acrid taste when chewed. Pieces are often curled or broken slices, externally grayish-yellow, relatively rough, with delicate split grains.
