Macroscopic FeaturesIrregular long strips, wrinkled and slightly rolled, uneven size, 2~5mm thick. Externally grayish-yellow, rough, with wrinkles and grayish-white horizontal lenticels, rough skin often falls off and is scale-like, reddish-brown where the skin has fallen off. Inner surface is yellowish-brown to reddish-brown, flat, with fine longitudinal lines. Pliable texture, fractured surface cracks and falls off by layers. faint odor, bitter taste and astringent. Tree bark is flake-like, about 8mm thick, relatively thick rough skin; the outer surface is cracked and the inner surface is relatively rough.
