Medical Citron Fruit

Primarily produced in the Chinese provinces of Sichuan, Fujian, Yunnan.

Fruit is spherical or long spherical flake, 4~10cm diameter, 0.2~0.5cm thick. Horizontally cut slice has yellow or yellowish-green exocarp, edge is wavy, scattered indented oil spots; mesocarp is 1~3cm thick, yellowish-white, with irregular reticular vascular bundles; pulp has 10~17 chambers. Longitudinally cut slice has relatively thick central column. Soft and pliable texture. Clear aromatic odor, slightly sweet and bitter acrid taste.

Superior medicinal material is yellow, potent aromatic odor.

Acrid, bitter, sour, warm.

Courses liver, rectifies qi, expands the middle, transforms phlegm. Apply to chest and abdominal fullness, chest swelling and pain, cough with excessive phlegm.

'Pulp’: This refers to the pouch-like sections formed but the endocarp and the vesicle-filled carpels of citrus fruits.
