Glabrous Scrcandra Herb

Primarily produced in the Chinese provinces of Sichuan, Guangxi, Zhejiang, Jiangxi.

Length is 50~120cm. Rhizome is relatively thick and large, densely has thin roots. Stem is cylindrical, often has branches, 0.3~1.3cm diameter; externally dark green to dark brown, with obvious thin wrinkles, scattered longitudinal lenticels, nodes are enlarged; brittle texture, easily broken, fractured surface has pith or hollow center. Opposing leaves, oval lanceolate to oval elliptical shape, 5~15cm long, 3~6cm wide; externally green, greenish-brown to brown or brownish-red, smooth; edges has thick saw-teeth, which has black-brown glands at the tip, petiole is about 1cm long; nearly leathery texture. Flower spikes grow out from the apex and are often branched. faintly aromatic odor, slightly acrid taste.

Superior medicinal material has green stem and leaves.

Bitter, acrid, neutral.

Anti-bacteria, dephlogisticate, dispels wind, frees channels, invigorates blood, disperses binds. Apply to Pneumonia, appendicitis, cellulitis, wind-damp impediment, injury from falls, tumor.
