Production Regions
Primarily produced in the Chinese provinces of Sichuan, Yunnan, Guizhou, Hunan, Hubei, Shaanxi.
Macroscopic Features
Flat spherical, disc-like, composed 10-20 separated sections of fruit, fruit stem is thin and short. Separated sections are sub-oblate, with protruding rings of thin veins, externally yellowish-white or yellowish-brown. Seed is spherical and flat, orange flap-shaped, or kidney-shaped, thin and small, about 1.5~2mm diameter, center of the thinner side is indented, exterior has a brownish-yellow persistent calyx, with ring-shaped thin wrinkles; when the outer shell is peeled off, the seed is brown. Hard texture; slightly aromatic odor after being fractured.
