Production Regions
Primarily produced in the Chinese provinces of Shaanxi, Shanxi, Henan, Yunnan.
Macroscopic Features
Strip-like, sub-spherical or flat flake-like shape, sometimes with branches, 5~25cm long, 2~6cm diameter. Light in weight, hard texture, slightly granular. Externally black, grayish-black or brownish-black, wrinkled or with verrucous bulging, fractured surface is off-white or yellowish-white. faint odor, tasteless.
Quality Requirements
Superior medicinal material has large, knotted body, heavy texture, black and lustrous skin, white flesh, powdery.
Properties
Sweet, tasteless, neutral.
Functions
Promotes urination, leaches out dampness. Apply to difficulty in micturition, edema, diarrhea, strangury, vaginal discharge.
